Coconut Oil and Honey Mask for Healthy Hair
Coconut Oil and Honey combined make a fantastic mask for healthier hair. If you use masks to help your damaged hair, this Coconut Oil and Honey Mask for Healthy Hair is the one for you.
Growing up, my hair was never one of my favorite assets.
For this reason it went through many, many color treatments, perms, straightenings, loads of beauty products and just about any other fad.
My hair is really thick and coarse, and so it takes hours to dry unless I blow dry it. Which I do. This is why I now use a Coconut Oil and Honey Mask several times a month. But more about that in a moment.
I’ve been working on the Curly Girl Method, to fix and repair my hair – so here I am doing things I didn’t used to do.
Because I used to blow dry it, we are looking at a frizzy, poofy mess and so then I straightened it to lay it down fast. While I took advantage of some of the high end straightening products out there, it didn’t diminish the damage I was doing to my hair.
So now… once a week I do a Coconut Oil and Honey Mask – let’s talk about that.
Even with fantastic hair care and using masks to help damage hair, you still wind up with buildup from products over time. So how do you deal with that?
My favorite way to work through the build up and break it up, distributing your natural oils through your hair, thus by giving your whole head a gentle scalp massage – is by using the Goody Clean Radiance Cushion Brush.
I used it everyday and it was one of my favorites, to give less damage but really get to the scalp.
With the Curly Girl Method, I do not use a brush anymore. But if I did, it would be this one hands down.
The unique copper bristles are stiff and really give a great scalp massage which literally equals to the redistribution of natural oils.
It also helps remove natural build up leaving my hair healthy and more radiant than before using. I love how it feels running through my hair and the flexible cushion pad for added comfort, is a huge plus too.
You can get the Goody Clean Radiance Cushion Brush almost anywhere that sells the Goody brand, but I got mine at Walmart and there are a few options.
Coconut Oil and Honey Mask
Coconut Oil and Honey Mask
Ingredients
- 1/4 tablespoons coconut oil warmed (not hot)
- 1/4 cup honey
Instructions
- Combine coconut oil and honey and blend thoroughly. I usually combine equal amounts of both into a small bowl, microwave for about 30 seconds and then use my blender to blend well, since the honey and coconut oil sometimes resist combining.
- Rub the concoction into your wet hair like you were shampooing your hair.
- Allow to sit for 10 minutes. Cover with a shower cap if desired, I usually because I think it keeps it moist and working longer.
- Rinse with warm water several times.
- Style as usual.
